Colorado Law Protects Workers Who Aren’t Paid

On Behalf of | May 27, 2015 | Firm News, Unpaid Wages |

Unfortunately, there are a lot of examples of companies and employees that refuse to pay their workers for the job they have done.  It’s not fair to workers, and it’s not right.

Many workers who have not been paid by their employer think there is nothing they can do about it, but that’s not accurate.  The Colorado Wage Act (“CWA”) is a law that is designed to protect workers who haven’t been paid, and it is heavily favored toward employees rather than employers.

One example of this is that the Wage Act includes language that hits employers with penalties if they don’t pay their employees — and those penalties are paid directly to the worker.  Another part of the Wage Act allows employees to recover their attorney fees if they win a suit against their employer.  Because of this provision, we lawyers at the Colorado Law Team take Wage Act cases against employers without charging the client anything up front.  This means that you can have one of our attorneys represent you in a lawsuit against your employer without having to pay up front. There are even potential criminal penalties against an employer that refuses to pay its employees the wages that are owed.

Ultimately, the law is on your side if you haven’t been paid in Colorado, so put it to work for you.
