Brighton was founded in the 1870s as a stage/railroad depot and family community. The town was initially named Hughes Station. Brighton was incorporated in 1887. Several notable scholars have been born in Brighton, to include Richard Ling, founding editor of Mobile Media & Communication, currently the Shaw Foundation Professor of Media Technology at Nanyang Technological University, and Max Pfeffer, the Senior Associate Dean of the Cornell University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
Brighton has a population of approximately 40,500 as of 2017. Just a few miles away from the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, Barr Lake State Park, the York Street Garden, and the Mile High Flea Market, Brighton is a great place to live.
