An IEE is an Independent Educational Evaluation. If, after the school district evaluates your child, you, as a parent, disagree with that evaluation, you have the right to obtain an independent educational evaluation of your child. Parents may either pay for this expense on their own, or request the district covers the cost of the evaluation. If the parents perform the IEE out of their own pocket, the district must consider the results of that evaluation moving forward.
If the parents request that the district pay for this evaluation, the school district may either agree to pay for the evaluation, or they must schedule an administrative hearing to determine if the district’s initial evaluation was sufficient and accurate.
